During the past thirty years RSA Geotechnics has established working relationships with some of the UK's leading marine specialists. In order to undertake ground investigation for coastal and marine developments it is necessary to utilise a range of specilist plant and equipment, including pontoons, jackup platforms, tugs and safety boats to enable the investigation to be undertaken overwater.
Coastal Change Project: RSPB Titchwell Marsh, Norfolk
Titchwell Marsh is one of the RSPB’s most important nature reserves. The freshwater reed bed is home to three of the country's rarest breeding birds; the bearded tit, marsh harrier and bittern.
Oikos Jetty Repair and Upgrading, Canvey Island, Essex
Oikos' bulk liquid storage terminal on Canvey Island is a strategic part of the United Kingdom's infrastructure for fuel distribution. Oikos have operated on Canvey Island for over 70 years and, under new ownership, the terminal is currently undergoing major redevelopment. As part of this work an aging jetty needed to be upgraded.
Roydon Mill Inland Marina, Harlow, Essex
A new marina has been developed within an existing lake adjacent to the River Stort in Roydon, Essex. The project included the construction of a 30m long pond lock, sheet piled walls, elevated building platform and piled servicing area.
St Mary's Island, Chatham Maritime, Kent
The St Mary's Island development is part of the community of Chatham Maritime, and the project is situated on the site of the former Royal Naval Dockyard. The St Mary's Island development is a joint venture involving Countryside Properties and the Homes & Communities Agency.
Sea Defence Scheme: Hazelmere Sea Wall, Holland-on-Sea, Essex
A ground investigation was recently carried out on the beach and promenade at York Road in Holland-on-Sea. The purpose of the investigation was to determine the underlying ground conditions and aid the design of a steel sheet pile retaining wall.
